What happen to my little prince-part6

Daddy and mummy work half day today and pick both you and Kaitlyn around 3:30pm and headed to hospital. Ah ma also come to help up.

Guess what, Dr Pong told us that your lung is better than the day before!! What a big relief. For the whole night, mummy keep worry that you may need to have intravenous catheter (IV), and you will cry and scream like crazy when the doc do it for you because your hand quite puffy and doc will have difficulty to find your vein. Once, mummy look at the doc doing IV on you and i almost want to push the doc away when you keep crying and call out mummy in pain! Dr Pong said the Seretide and Ventolin work on you and he wants us to keep using it for you as preventive medicine. He told me you are showing asthma sympton and he further assure me this is nothing serious as his youngest kid also has asthma and with proper prevention treatment, this will go away. But, if we do not go on treatment, then it will become the real asthma. Mummy also ask Dr Pong to check on Kaitlyn to make sure she is ok since she's having cough too. Luckily Kaitlyn's lung is clear. what a relief!

Mummy checked with Dr Pong if we admit you and let you go on nebulizer, will this help to speed up the recovery, and the answer is YES. So since daddy and mummy had the worst preperation after last night doctor visit, so we decided to let you admit for a day. Dr Pong told us there is lots of cases on kid having bad cough and need nebulizer for these few weeks due to bad weather. Those kids with sensitive airway will fall sick.

We wanted to get a provate room, but no luck. So we need to get a twin sharing room. You don't look like a person who admit to hospital, you look like a person check in to hotel for holiday. As soon as we brought you up to the room and as soon as you see the baby cot, you asked us to let you in.
K: bring me into the "cage"
You called it the cage because the baby cot has rail for all the 4 sides. And you even tell us that you are a wolf staying in the cage. **slapped forehead**

Ah Kong came to the hospital to meet up with us and he needs to pick up ah ma and Kaitlyn. Mummy doesn't let Kaitlyn come up to the ward as i afraid there could be lots of bacterias in the ward, so ah kong and ah ma take turn to take care her at the hospital reception area while one of them come to see you in the room.

You were on nebulizer every 4 hrs, regardless midnight. You cried for a while when the nurse wake you up middle of the nite for nebulizer. But luckily you quite corporate.

"Holiday" - Day 4

Yippie, Dr Tan said we can go home….there comes the end of our 4 days 3 night stay in Adventist. However, we need to go back to Adventist on Sat and Sun night to get te antibiotic injection. While waiting for your medicine, mummy realised that we forgot to cut off your admission tag, so Mummy borrowed scissors from the cashier and cut it off for you. You were busy playing with it. You even put it into your mouth, trying to chew on it. Duh! So hungry meh?

You were very energetic and active along the way home. When we reached home, we bath you and let you take your morning nap. Very fast, you go to la la land.

Tonight, daddy will bring you to uncle Chong’s house for dinner before going to Adventist got injection. You were a bit cranky and keep showing your hand that has bandage on it. Mummy need to keep assuring you that it look nice, else you will keep making noise. Hmm, I think you afraid the bandage may spoilt your reputation huh! Haha!

Around 8:30pm, we left Uncle Chong’s condo at 1 Persiaran Gurney, going to Adventist for the injection. Today, when the nurse gave you injection, you were quite cooperative didn’t make much noise, bravo baby!

"Holiday" - Day 3

We still cannot discharge yet as Dr Tan said he needs one more day to make sure the tonsillitis is under control. So, no choice, another night in hospital.

We decided to bath you today. We get the nurse to wrap both of your hand with plastic bag so that water wont go in. And since you kept splashing water while we bath you, end up both bandage were wet. We request the nurse to change the bandage for you and at the same time Ah Mah decided not to wrap your left hand. Luckily you didn’t uses your left hand to pull the bandage on right hand.

See, you are so busy playing in the room ...walk here walk there, throw this throw that....

In the evening, when Ah Kong played with you, suddenly you throw our some milk. And make some noise after that. After we brought you to playroom, you happilly playing with all the toys. So mummy takes the opportunity to feed you your porridge. And guess what, you throw out all the porridge and this really scared all of us. And we noticed that your body a bit heaty. The on duty nurse called up Dr Tan and his advice is to monitor for 2 hr before taking any action. Luckily after the throw out, you seem ok. You refuse to sleep in the baby cot and Daddy tried to tug u to sleep with him on sofa bed but you refuse to sleep, so mummy’s turn to try. And very fast, you were in your la la land, u must be missing mummy's smell huh! What a relief to daddy and mummy seeing you sleep so soundly. By the way, daddy is the one who sleep on sofa bed and mummy sit on chair and sleep beside you else you will cry when you don't see any of us beside you when you open your eyes. Mummy's back senget now...

Hope everything is ok and we can discharge on tomorrow.

"Holiday" - Day 2

Thank god, you look better and more active today. No more cranky and in fact, started to be naughty. When Dr Tan drop by to check on you, to our surprise, you didn’t cry. You even kiss him. Dr Tan was very happy as usually whenever u sees him, u will greet him with your crying noise. He check on the ears and throat again to make sure everything ok. The blood test shows that you had bacteria infection, and other than that, everything is ok!

Oh yeah, Uncle James, Ms Goh and Poh Poh dropped by to visit you. You were so happy when you see them.

You keep insisting us to bring you to the playroom. It’s a busy day for you as you keep walking around, and whenever you sees and cleaners or “food dispatcher”, you will call them kakak clear and loud. And you made everyone happy as most of them are old and they said u made them feel young by calling them so! And when you were in the playroom, you will walk to elder boy and call them “ke ke” and elder girl and call them “jie jie”. You even shake hand with them.

Mummy brought you your favourtite toys so that we can keep you stay in the room at least 30 mins. However, you show more interest on walking around instead of staying in the room. Do you think by wrapping both your hands are safe? No way!! You use your mouth to bite the bandage to unwrap it. Duh!! Kinda creative huh! You refuse to sleep at night and super active. Daddy and mummy super tired but you still jump up and down from the bed. Seeing you so active, mummy feel relief as this is sign of recovering.

"Holiday" - Day 1

It was a sunny Wednesday and is public holiday, so we lazed for a while then only get out from the bed. Mummy thought you fully recover from the ear infection. So happily, we brought you out for breakfast at Mandarin Café, our usual place for breakfast with you. You didn’t finish up the koay teow thng and keep making noise throughout the breakfast. We thought you just cranky so doesn’t pay much attention to your “complain”

Everything seems ok until in the afternoon you started to make noise, and the only way to make you quiet is to bring you out. So daddy and mummy brought you to Tesco and we managed to keep you quiet for a while before you started to make noise. Your body a bit warm and daddy decided to let you take paracetamol. We didn’t have our dinner at Ah Kong’s house, instead, we went back and let you sleep as you didn’t take your afternoon nap. You slept for a while and keep waking up and crying. Around 8:30pm, you wake up again and cry badly. This time, your body very hot, and without any doubt, daddy quickly decided to send you to Adventist Emergency Room. The traffic was very bad as the Thaipusam celebration is not yet over.

When the nurse in ER took your temperature, gosh, it was 39.3 degree. Mummy quickly ask for suppository, however, the nurse in ER said they can’t do anything before the doctor check on you. Mummy very unhappy with their slow response and actually grumble at the nurse. At the same time, I get scolded by daddy for grumbling at the nurse. Well well, in such a critical situation, why can’t the nurse just pick up the phone and ask for medical officer’s advice. Luckily mummy has Dr Tan’s cell phone, quickly I called Dr Tan and informing him we are in ER. At the same time, mummy requested the nurse to call Dr Tan to get instruction over the phone. Dr Tan asked them to give superiority immediately while waiting for him to come. You still very cranky and keep making noise.
Mummy doesn’t consider it as crying as there is no tear coming out from your eyes. Later, mummy managed to keep you occupy with the empty water container in the ER room.

About 20 mins, Dr Tan arrived and when he checked on you, he found that ear infection fully recover and he wonder why you still not feeling well. In fact, Dr Tan did check with mummy your condition on Tuesday night, and both of us were happy as your fever totally subsided. And who knows, it comes back on Wednesday. Dr Tan then suspect could be the throat which give you problem. DUH!!! Yes, he is right, you are having throat infection, tonsillitis!!! So what is next???! Dr Tan advice to get you admitted as throat infection a bit handy to tackle. Normal oral antibiotic take longer time to effect, you need to get the antibiotic through injection. And we found another problem, which is, your hand a bit puffy and hard to find vein, so he need to put needle into your hand and wrap it up so that they wont need to find vein when they need to inject the antibiotic for you. At the same time, he needs to get some blood to perform blood test.

Baby,
You know what, the blood collecting session is the most torturing for us. You were crying so badly and mummy stand there, don’t know what to do. Seeing you cry in pain, mummy really heart broken. I can fell that tears rolling in my eyes and I keep telling myself I cannot cry, I must be tough so that I can support you. You hold to my hand real hard and in the middle of collecting blood, you call “Ma Ma” in pain. Gosh, at that moment, mummy nearly collapse, really heart broken and want to take you away from Dr Tan.

We need to wrap both of your hand as we afraid you may pull the bandage that being used to wrap the needle. You were a bit unhappy at first as you can’t move your fingers freely. But very fast, you get used to it. Thank God!
After that, we went to do the admission and then we being brought to the ward. Pediatric ward was full so we need to stay in the surgical ward which is just opposite the Ped ward. For the whole night, you keep waking up and cry. Maybe you don’t get use to sleep in new place and at the same time you worry daddy and mummy may leave you alone in the hospital. You being given paracetamol every 4 hrs to control the fever. Mummy sit on the chair beside you bed so that whenever you wake up, I will be able to see you and talk you to calm you down. It’s really a torturing day for all of us.

Follow-Up check-up

hahaha...guess what...yesterday we had a pre-planned short gathering with Evan Koh Koh at Adventist Paed clinic.

We had a "date" with Dr Mary, a follow up check up for your post admission. And so coincident,Evan koh koh also had "date" with Dr Mary for his MMR jab. Night clinic super pack, the waiting area so crowded, so we choose to let you play at the OB waiting area. While daddy playing with you at the OB waiting area, Aunty Angeline walk in with Evan koh koh. We were a bit earlier that Evan koh koh, there is 9 ppl before your turn, and 11 ppl before Evan koh koh.
And...while all of us waiting in Paed waiting area, we suddenly see aunty Cath...here some, she and her 2 lovely daughters.

You were so energetic, kept wanting us to carry you around, and you show us your eagerness to try on the slide. Until one point......i noticed daddy no longer carry you around, instead he let you play with the table...yes, u push and pull the table. Daddy told me he is exhausted, cannot carrying you around. So, mummy took over the carrying role for short while. Luckily, not too long, it's your turn to see Dr Mary.

This time, you didn't make noise when Dr Mary check on you, except you don't feel comfortable when she wanna check on your throat. No pneumococoa jab for you, Dr Mary postpone it to next month.

On our way back, you decided to do something FUN! It's fun for you but not for me :(
You decided to stand up and refuse to sit still on the car seat. Well, you wont be able to stand up by yourself, but you will borrow some strength from others to help you stand up. So, mummy lose to you, i carried you and let you stand by the window. While we were at the traffic light at Pesta, suddenly, you lost balance and your forehead hit on the window. "WAHHHHHHHHH....." you cried out loud. Mummy's heart sank as you never cry so loud when you hit yourself while you were playing. I guess partly because you are tired. Mummy suddenly recall what my colleague told me about letting baby latch on to calm them down while they are crying. And you did stop crying after that, then, you continue to stand by the window and enjoy yourself again.

I hope you will have a wonderful day everyday :)

Bye bye phlegm suction session

Today evening is the last trip for phlegm suction.
Thank god! The phlegm gets lesser. For today morning and evening session, i stayed in the room with Kelvin when the physicians pat at his back to soften the phlegm. In the evening,I actually intend to stay in the room while they had the suction session, but the physician advised me to go out. So no choice, i can't accompany my little boy.

After the suction session, we headed to Dr Mary's clinic.

Kelvin: Thanks to all aunties, i am getting better and better. But Dr Mary still want me to take the cough and running nose medicine, hiaks...

Dear Baby,
While we were waiting in the clinic, you get so so so excited with the slide, the plastic rocking horse. You kept want mummy to carry you and let you sit on the horse. You won't let mummy sit down, you want me to carry you around....what a super energetic baby. So end up, mummy sweat too.

However, i am glad that no more phlegm suction session for you. But i need to take super good care of you so that you will recover completely.

Oh yeah, one thing, daddy lost the battle. He is now with cough, flu, light fever. Dr Mary asked him to take medicition as sick adult may pass the virus to baby, especially you, who is just recovering.

By the way, you forever happy and excited when i brought you up to the paed ward. Why? Because you get to play with the lift. Yes yes, you like to press on the button....just like what you did to the lift in our apt...press press all the buttons....

Still with lots of phlegm

This morning brought you to Adventist again for phlegm suction. And the phlegm still a lot. According to the nurse, usually amount of phlegm will be more in the morning due to weather change. As the weather getting more hot, the phlegm will reduce.

When the nurse let u on nebuliser, you just make some noise and awhile later, you let her do whatever she is suppose to do. While we are waiting for your turn, you get entertained by one aunty. And surprises me, you even let her carry you for short while. When it's your turn, mummy put you on the bed and walk out, i don't think i can stand seeing them doing the suction on you. Later mummy will cry out as loud as you :)

Well, we still need to send you to Adventist again tonite and 2 times tomorrow. After tomorrow night's phlegm suction, we will go to see Dr Mary.

Hospital stay - Day 3

13-May-2007
It's Mother's Day. This is our first Mother's Day...anyhow, you are too young to know what is it about. You woke up around 1030am.

When Dr Mary came for ward visit, we decided to discharge and come back for phlegm suction.
Before we went off, mummy brought u to the children playground again and let you sit in the swing. This time, you seems to be better , you know how to hold on the swing and you even shake your legs to make the swing move. Cool ya!

Ah Ma and Ah Kong went to Eu Yan Sang to buy one of the chinese medicine for you, as while waiting for you to come out from the phlegm suction session, Ah Ma met one lady and she told Ah Ma that her kid also had same problem as you, but her kid recover fully from phlegm-less after taking 2 bottle of the chinese medicine. And she also emphasize that MUST get from Eu Yan Sang.

Later, the nurse taught me how to use the inhaler with children musk as i need to use it for you every 4 hr.

That's the end for Day 3

Hospital stay - Day 2

12-May-2007
Day 2 in hospital
Morning, when Dr Mary checked on you, she told me that you need to go for nebuliser. My whole heart sank. Nebuliser, means you will cry cry cry ...as most children don't like it. But i have to give it to you as this is the only way to reduce your phlegm. Dr Mary did a good job in explaining to me why you have to go for phlegm suction. She uses layman term when explaining to me.

Dr Mary : The lung and phlegn now is like a blocked drain and mosquitoes, and if you don't unblock the drain, it will become mosquitoes breeding place. And the baby will get infection easily.
Me: ok ok
Dr Mary : But i will advise you not to see the whole process, let the nurse handle it
Me: ok ok (by that time, thousands of questions pop up my mind, i feel that tear running in my eyes, luckily didn't drop down)

After Dr Mary left, i quickly sms a colleagues of mine coz she send her daughter for phlegm suction before. She also advised me not to see it.

When you wake up from sleep, Mummy and Ah Ma brought u to the children playing room, and you seems very excited. Daddy even let you sit in the swing while mummy go expressing milk milk for you.

Mummy and daddy went home for shower meanwhile Ah Kong and Ah Ma take care you. Around 3pm Ah Kong called and inform that they will transfer you to semi-private room.
Yes yes, there is 1 nice sleeping bed for daddy in the sem-private room, and daddy get another one from the previos room that you stayed for mummy. So means mummy don't have to sit and sleep! We brought ee poh along to Adventist, daddy and mummy sneak out to Midland for mummy's favourite Taiwan food :d. Hey, no complain ya, you tasted it 2 times when you were in my tummy :)

Every 4 hr, you will be given nebuliser and 2 times phlegm suction. I hold on you while you being given nebuliser. You cried cried and cried. But according to Dr Mary, the more u cry, the better the result as when you cry, u will inhale more of the gas and this will soften your phlegm, make the suction session easier.

The morning session, the phlegm seems to be a lot and thick, the evening session, phlegm moderate and thick...Daddy walked away when you had your second suction. I bet his heart sank hearing your crying huh. You are such an adorable baby, who can stand listening to your crying voice. .....mummy wanted to stay in the room with you, but i afraid i may ended crying louder than you. Dr Mary will stop giving you paracetamol starting midnite and monitor your fever. If fever subside, means you can go home by Sunday. But for the phlegm, will see Sunday morning's result then only can tell whether you need to come back for phlegm suction or not.

You being given nebuliser at 12 midnite and 4am. For Saturday nite, mummy basically exhausted, i didn't wake up when the nurse started to give you nebuliser, i only woke up by the noise middle of the procedure, and as for the 4am session, i woke up when the nurse done with it. Sorry baby, mummy exhausted. As for daddy, he totally has flat battery, busy charging his battery...hahahahaha

That's the end for Day2

Hospital stay - Day 1

11-May-2007
Friday nite, after you wake up from your usual sleep, you kept making noise, kept saying "eh eh"....usually when you said "eh eh", you could be either wee wee or poo poo. But we checked thoroghly and cant find any sign of wee wee or poo poo.

Ah Kong said seems like you have wind inside tummy, and mummy can't find your "or hong eu" at home. So, mummy and daddy went out to Batu Lanchang to get the "or hong eh" for you. It was almost 9pm, and the shop closed, so we decided to go Guardian to buy the Bosisto's Oil of Eucalyptus which earlier recomended by Dr Tan in Adventist. On our way to Guardian, Ah Ma called saying you cried non stop, and awhile later, Ah Kong again. Both of them can't comfort you. So we rushed home after buying thr oil, and when i got home, heard you crying softly. Mummy managed to calm you down for a while before you decided to make noise. You onverworried grandparents then "forced' us to bring you to see doc.

So, quickly, i packed your thing and headed to Adventist. In the car, you gets super excited. Yeah yeah, car ride huh! When we reached Adventist's ER, the nurse read your temperature and gosh, it was 38.8 degree. While waiting for Dr Mary, the nurse in ER gave you suppository to your bum bum :D Thank god, you didn't make any noise during the process. Good boy!
When Dr Mary arrivved, she suggested we admit you so that the nurses there can take good care of you.

Me: Bb, Dr Mary suggest to admit Vin Boy
Daddy to Dr Mary : Huh? Leave him here with the nurse
Me :*Alamak!Daddy too worry til i ter-ask such question*
Dr Mary : No no no, you guys will stay with him here

Then, daddy and mummy proceed to do admission for you. While waiting, Ah Kong carried you and you actually busy playing with the admission staffs. They kept entertaining you and you kept moving up and down in ah kong's arm. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, you poo poo not long after the nurse insert suppository. Maybe the nurse ter-trigger your poo poo...hiaks!

On that nite, Adventist paed ward "fully booked", no private or semi-private bed available. So, we gotta opt for 4 beded room and put you in waiting list for semi-privte or private room. We decided to bring you back with us as mummy need to go back to pack our "luggage". You look so happy and excited when you see me carrying the big bag. You thought going for holiday ya. Yes yes, we are going to Adventist for 3 days 2 nights stay. Duhhh....

Mummy worried that you may refuse to sleep in the baby cot, and guess what! When i put you on the baby cot, you get super excited, especially the grill. I guess, must be at home, mummy uses cot bumper to surround your cot and you don't know there is grill around it. You were busy putting your hand then you leg out from the baby cot...so cute. After a while, you sleep! wow...
But there is only one sleeping bed besides you, so mummy got sit on the chair and sleep. I kept waking up to check on you til the nurse asked mummy " u didn't sleep?" I sleep but can't sleep well as i worry that you may wake up and cry when not seeing me around you. But u sleep sweetly on the baby cot, i guess could be the medicine make u dizzy. Good boy.

That's the end for day 1

My 2 sweethearts
