弟子规小状元

After one year of learning 弟子规, it's time for you to enjoy the fun of attending the 弟子规 certification ceremony.

On 1st Dec, we went to Han Chiang Secondary School for the 小状元 certification. As you only taking one small part which is 弟子规, thus, it's consider the easiest as compare to the others who are taking  弟子规, 三字经,百孝经  and many more.

We reached the hall close to 9am and it is already crowded with people. Each of the participants will need to go through a one to one test with the invigilator. The Invigilator will have choice of asking the student to do the recitation sequentially or randomly. This is to ensure the kid know the end to end of the whole concept of what they have learned.

While waiting for the rest to complete the exam and also for result, the thoughtful organizer do arrange activities to keep the kids occupied. After around 2 hours, finally the result is out. Congratulations , my boy!!! He passed the 小状元 certification. Well, it's not the end yet. Each of them need to go though the 状元门,a sign of them being certified 小状元.

The whole session finally ended by 12 noon. It's tiring but yet a fun day for the kid!

Well done, Kaitlyn !

Few days before the prize giving ceremony, teacher told us she won prizes in all the 3 languages writing competition. I still remembered, on the prize giving ceremony morning, when my girl wakes up, she told me she gets number 2 placing in her class, and i jokingly tell her that it must be there's only 2 student in her class.

Frankly, all the while, i under-estimate my little sweetie pie and i put more attention on her brother. I feel so bad for not focusing much on her and i am so proud of her achievement.

Well done, my sweet little girl. Keep it up!

Journey of potty training - cont

4/14
Today some improvement, 2 missed. Great job. However, I am having hard time with you at night as you refused to put on your diaper. We need to force you to wear it, pity girl. Hope you wont get confuse why sometimes we let you diaperless and why sometimes we force you to wear diaper.

4/21
While mummy tugging you to sleep, out of sudden, you told me you want to wee wee, and keep pointing at the toilet door. I asked whether you want to wee at toilet and you nodded your head. For first time at night, mummy took off your diaper and bring you to toilet, surprise me, you wee! So amazing. After that you refused to put on your diaper and again, after few mins of fighting, I managed to put on diaper for you.

4/22
When you wake up from sleep, you told me you want to go toilet wee wee. And yes, you did it. Even though your diaper is full off wee throughout the night, but yet, this is really a great start. When mummy change your clothes for you to get your ready to go to school, you refuse to put on diaper and you asked me to “throw” away your diaper. So I decided to take the risk and give a try to drive you to school diaperless, afterall, it’s a real short journey. Mummy keep reminding you that you are diaperless and if you want to wee , need to inform mummy.

4/27
In around 2 weeks time, you are 80% potty trained, what a great milestone for you! Great job, girl. Mummy so proud of you.

Journey of potty training- first attempt

Today remark the first attempt for your potty trained.

Yesterday when mummy picked you up, teacher Margaret asked me to pack more pants for you as she planned to potty train you.

Mummy packed 8 pants for you. I told teacher Margaret your fear of sitting on potty. Mummy tried to make you sit on potty for few times, but everytime you will cry and refuse to sit on it even though I make it as a game with you. So when teacher Margaret told me her plan, mummy was like “should I or shouldn’t I” But I told teacher Margaret to leave it to you, if you ok , then we proceed if you reject, then we will slower down the training. But….i have faith on teacher Margaret, coz she is the one helped me to potty train your keke, so I don’t see any problem to let her train you 

Today when mummy picked you up, teacher Margaret said there was 4 missed incident take place, well, but at least you didn’t reject the potty training. Teacher Margaret trained 4 of you at one time. So I guess you thought it’s part of your daily activities, so you didn’t reject and in fact, you enjoy the fun. Teacher Margaret worry that you may run out of pants, so everytime you wet your pant, teacher Margaret will get the maid to clean and dry it, just in case you need it.

Little Chatterbox

At 14 mths, you are able to speak to us using some simple word and of course mix with your own baby language and hand sign. Mummy has no clue where you learn the hand sign from as i never show you any, maybe you learn it from teacher and child minder in the nursery.

**this is your favourite facial expression when you want to request something from us **

The way you call our family members:-
Da Da – daddy (sometimes you will call daddy but most of the time you will call da da and give us the cheeky smile)
Meh meeeeee – Mummy (sometimes you will cal maaaa, mee mee, mah mee, but most of the time you like to call me meh meeee)
Kheh – keh keh
Ah Ta – Eldest ee poh
Kheng – Ah Kong
Ah Mah- Grandma

Word that only mummy understand and need to translater on behalf of you when you talk with others:-
Wah weh- flower
Wow wow- dog
li zet – lizard
mum mum – eat

Word that we can understand:-

A busy day for her

Ever since Kaitlyn able to walk unsupported all by herself, this little girl of mine super busy. The falling down incident doesn't stop her from walking. The moment she wakes up from sleep, she will walk non stop from front to back, back to front of the house. So we need to keep our eyes close on her, bacause she can even climb up the split level and stairs in the house. *scary huh*

Falling down

Oh….what happen to my my sweetie.

Today, when mummy picked you up from school, teacher Margaret in her worry face ask mummy what happen to my cellphone as she kept calling me, and mummy didn’t pick up the call. My heart sank and I asked her what’s going on…..teacher Margaret’s expression told me something happen to either you or ke ke. And…it’s about you!

You fall down and knock on left side of your cheek. Without asking for more detail, I rushed up to where your class is and want to have a check on you. But you were sleeping soundly in your baby cot, I guess you must be too tired after the cry and fall asleep. I can see the blue black mark on your left cheek and gosh….my heart really sank. Then only I asked teacher Margaret what’s happening to you. According to her, you fall down on the floor and knock on your left cheek and she told me you weren’t holding anything on your hand while you fall. Even mummy feel not happy with your fall, but this is part and parcel of growing up. Just hope that you will learn the lesson, which I don’t think you do, because after mummy wake you up from sleep, you insisted me to let you walk, LOL!

We then went to Ms Goh’s house to pick up ke ke, and I heard another version of story from Ms Goh. She told me the teacher told her that you fall down outside the bathroom. And mummy even more angry with this. I raised my voice and asked her “Why the teacher let her walk after they bath Kaitlyn? Don’t they know that the kid’s leg still wet and chances of them falling down is high?” but well, thing already happen and i just wish that teacher will be more cautious next time.

At night, daddy try to use a boiled egg to massage on your face, however you refuse to let us do it, so we give up and at the end, the 2 dogs get to eat the egg.

Your first step

Finally….u r walking unsupported by yourself! I got this template from Ern's mummy, aunt Wooi Sin and i used this template to post for ker ker's first step too. Thanks Wooi Sin for this perfect template to track my kids' first step.

Friday, when mummy picked you up from school, teacher happily told me that you are able to walk many many steps unsupported by yourself. And you get so excited and keep walking around in the afternoon, so they really have hard and rough and challenging time to make you take your afternoon nap. After wake up from afternoon nap, again, you walk nonstop at the playing area in your baby class.

Am so happy seeing you able to walk all by yourself, however, here come the worries, you refuse to let us hold on your hand and you walk like a little penguin, trying to balance yourself while walking.

And guess what, beside daddy and mummy, ke ke is the most happy boy seeing you able to walk and he kept running around in the house asking you to chase after him, and you keep trying to catch him. Well, his one round running around the house is your ¼ walking distance, LOL!

More and more steps

This morning, you balance yourself from squatting position and try to walk few steps unsupported. Previously, you need to lean on someone or hold on someone's hand and balance yourself then only you will walk few steps unsupported.

I see you squatting up and down and walk by yourself few times in less than 10 mins time and i guess you are about ready to walk unsupported by yourself. Great job, baby!

You can walk unsupported

wow wow wow, i must write this down.

Today, remark another new start for you as you are able to walk few steps unsupported!
You will lean on our leg, then once you balance yourself, you will walk few steps unsupported. Keep it my, my little girl!

Actually when mummy pick you up from school on Friday, teacher told me that you are able to walk 2 steps unsupported, i feel so happy hearing that. But too bad, i am not there to see it. Until today, i have chance to see you walking like penguin, LOL!

As you know how to crawl, so it's pretty hard for us to make you walk. Mummy tried to ask you come to me by holding your toy, but instead of "walk" to me, you crawl to me and get your toy. **mission failed** Mummy doesn't want to push you too much, so i let you do it by yourself when you are ready for it, and finally, i see you walking, i am so so so so happy!

You can stand unsupported!

Today, when mummy is feeding you porridge, you decided to be naughty. You climb out from the bumbo seat, and you tried to push the seat around. A while later, u found that it's pretty hard to push it around, you just stand behind the seat, and suddenly, you stand up and let go both of your hand. You able to stand unsupported for about 20 seconds. Everyone give you a big clap, and you repeated it for few times and we all continue to clap for you after each attempt. After few times, you get tired and you climbed into the seat and sit for short while and later out from the seat and become little puppy crawling on the floor. Poor mummy, i need to chase after you to feed you your porridge.

Bye Bye diaper!

It has been long waiting…I’ve been waiting for the day…The day when you tell me you are ready diaperless! Last night, you refuse to put on your diaper, no matter how we coax you, you still refuse to give in. So finally, mummy make the final call, go diaperless for the night.

Since it’s Saturday night, so daddy and mummy stay up late. Has been long time daddy and mummy do not have a “our time” to watch a movie peacefully. Daddy bought a Korean DVD, “Tsunami” and we decided to watch it after both of you fall sleep. After the movie, it’s 1-ish am, mummy carried you to the toilet for wee wee, and of course you make some fuss when I carried you to the toilet. You keep telling me you want to sleep, but mummy keep telling you that you need to wee as you are diaperless. And you did wee despite of you are at sleeping mode.
Another round of wee wee around 4am when mei mei wake me up for midnite feeding. After that all of us sleeping soundly until next morning around 830am. We managed to go through the first diaperless night with dry bed!

Bravo baby! You are well prepared for this! Mummy so happy and proud of you! So now, all those XXL diapers that we bought for you, i guess we need to pass it to mei mei, but i do hope that she doesn't need to use that much of XXL size diapers. Hope she can goes diaperless as fast as you.

My little queen at home

Today, seems like you growing up a bit...why i say so...because today for the whole day, you keep fighting for toy with ke ke. Whatever ke ke is playing, you want it. And the moment ke ke give it to you, you will just put it aside and proceed to grab the next item ke ke is playing with.

Poor ke ke, he has to keep switching with the toy that he is playing and he doesn't get to play with the toy that he wants. Everyone keep asking him to let you play with the toy that you want. And not long after that, we discovered your trick and we no longer asking ke ke to give you want you want. Instead, we give you what we want you to play. But of course, you do not happy with the arrangement. So what happen...you scream your lung out loudly and sharply. LOL! Well, we assume you are exercising your lung!

And also, our neighbor has minor renovation on their house, so when the workers drilling the wall, you will scold them "uuuuhh!" Same thing happen when the dogs bark. You will scold them "uuuuh!" LOL! Oh...my dear little queen at home!

Oh my goodness

Mummy like to say "oh my goodness" whenever i am angry with you. So indirectly, you pick this up from me.

Ah ma told me when you were in the car with them, for some reason, suddenly you said out "oh my goodness" when you are not happy with the way they answer your "why why why" question.

Daddy said it's all because of me like to use that word.

Well, luckily mummy don't use any bad word, else i will have hard time to "format" the word from your memory.

Almost there...

After about 1.5 mths of potty train, can say that you are almost 80% potty trained. Last week, teacher Margeret happily told mummy that you are no longer using nappy while you are in school and you are able to tell them when you want to wee wee.

How we start with the potty train? We started it at home by letting you diaperless. However, mummy needs to keep asking you whether you want to go toilet every 15 mins just to make sure you will not wee on your pant. However, sometimes when you are in playing mood, you will ignore mummy and the next thing is, you will tell me you wee on your pant.

So, in school, how the teacher able to make you tell when you want to wee wee? For initial start, teacher will bring you to toilet every 15 mins, and later they find that all of you will get more excited when ALL OF YOU wee wee together! Wee wee party!

And ta da...now, you no longer wear diaper unless you are sleeping. And this morning, when mummy changed you to casual wear, you told mummy you don't want to wear diaper. LOL! I have to keep assuring you that it's ok to wear diaper as we afraid you may want to wee while we are on the way sending you to school. Yet, this still can't convince you and finally, mummy told you that you can ask Teacher Margeret to remove the diaper for you when we reached school. Then only you stop asking me to remove the diaper for you. Hmm...looks like my little boy growing up huh!

Guess what, daddy grumble to mummy saying, we shouldn't stock up so much diapers since you already 80% potty trained as we bought lots of diapers at Tesco during last months sales! But never mind,we can keep the diapers for your sibling!

Barli Shom

Monday, when daddy mummy went to pick you up from day care, Ms Goh told us that you learned something new.

Ms Goh: Kelvin, you tell mummy what you want to order when you go to kopitiam?
Kelvin: barli shom!
Mummy: **puzzled** haha!

Ms Goh said they brought you along to the Farlim's Dmonte branch and you seems enjoy yourself very much at the center event hough it's your first visit there. You were busy playing with the car, super bike...and after that they went to one of the kopitiam nearby Sunshine Farlim for tea break. And...uncle James ordered barli som, and that's where you picked up the new word.

In fact, everytime when we brought you out, mummy will order barli som less sugar, and both of us will share the drink, and you like it so much. I tried to let you take crysanthinum tea, but you hate it, probably i ask for less sugar and it is bitter.
